We have represented several public officials and private citizens in connection with investigations and trials alleging official misconduct and campaign or election law violations.

Many of these cases were highly publicized. Consequently, we have extensive experience in dealing with the media.

Example cases include:

Defended public figure in trial in federal court against indictment involving several real estate transactions. Indictment alleged income tax money laundering claims. Court granted our Rule 29 motion at end of government's case.

Defense of San Diego City Councilman in a two-and-one-half-month-long trial in alleged corruption investigation and trial on "honest services" charges. Our motion for judgment of acquittal granted.

Defense of a San Diego Pension Board Member in an ongoing prosecution and civil cases for alleged conflict of interest.

Defended several cases not charged involving claims of violations of Government Code § 1090, the Political Reform Act or conflict of interest provisions before the San Diego Ethics Commission and/or the District Attorney's office.

Defense of a California State Senator in a prosecution relating to corruption in the State Legislature.

Defense of a senior executive of a large San Diego hospital implicated in a federal corruption investigation outside of California. The matter was resolved with a civil settlement without any criminal charges.

Representation of several entities and individuals in campaign money laundering investigations.

Defense of a City Councilman on criminal fraud charges in Superior Court.

Defended a Superior Court judge charged with "honest services" fraud in a six week long jury trial in Federal court.

Representation of a public figure in investigations by both District Attorney and U.S. Attorney into allegation of conflicts of interest involving a City Council member. Both District Attorney and U.S. Attorney declined prosecution of our client.

Representation of a presidential candidate before a federal grand jury and in interactions with the U.S. Attorney's office.
